I loathe interviews.  Absolutely detest them.  I always have.  My mind goes blank, I always feel as though I’m waffling and talking nonsense, and I can’t look people in the eyes which I always think makes me look shifty when I’m not – I’m just shy.

So when I received a call on my mobile at about seven o’clock this evening and the person on the other end stated, “We were very impressed by your interview and would like to offer you the position of TA [Teaching Assistant] if you’re still willing to accept it”, I was more than happy.  I was ecstatic.

And I will just point out that grinning insanely for half an hour while you’re being interviewed can make your face all achey …

*big cheesy insane grin*

please God bless my face xxx Elsabeth

  1. hahaha…very funny cuz i just interviewed two people for a job at our dept…it’s just as bad on the hiring end!  though not as bad! =p  i hate interviews too!
    But CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!
about Queer as folk- never saw the british version.  I hear it’s almost exactly the same…except one guy doesn’t make it..Ted…i hear he died in the british version…
oh don’t feel lonely!  I’ll make a trip to England too!  just to see you! =)  not that i need any excuse to go to England! =P

  2. YAY!!! Glad you got it!
And yes, I did forget to list finding you as one of the things I’ve done this year…you and several other Xangans who rock.
***giggles like a schoolgirl at the anticipation of a card from England***  Teehee!

  3. Congrats! I think we all hate interviews. It’s worse than being kids and being forced to be on our best behavior because an important person is coming to dinner.

  4. Wow, congratulations!   Interviews are one of the hardest things to get through in life, I’m sure!
It’s all about finding a balance when in one though.. too much eye contact makes you look like a loon as well, as if you’re some psycho trying to outwit (and outfreak) the interviewer.
As for tattoos… apart from the barber-shop style ‘tache bit at the bottom, it’s almost perfect.  The lower back is the preferred placement… you’re right, on some women it does look sexy… depends on the tattoo, mind!

  5. Congrats!
I’m glad you feel the same way about interviews, I’ve always thought it was me who was thinking all those things.
I’ve always read about looking people in the eye, how it makes them feel more important, so I’ve always done it…trying to stop them glazing over is another thing….I hate it and I hate interviews. At least you don’t have to do anymore now.

  6. P.S –  I love that Busted cd, I used to vomit on the mere mention of Busted, but I have to admit that I’m quite partial to them now. heehee!

  7. Congratulations! Ah, I think they’re as nervous as we are! Interviews do suck though. Just went through one for my teaching position and all I could think of was “God that was a stupid answer!” Like you, was surprised when the super came running out after my interview and asked me to sign.
